On October 15, 2006, Walter M. Bortz ll, M.D. ran in the Beijing International Marathon, organized by the Chinese Athletics Association. The International Association of Athletics Federations sanctioned and approved the Beijing Marathon as one of the top Marathons in the world. First held in 1981, the Beijing International Marathon is held every year in October. Beijing is also the host city to the 2008 Olympics. Dr. Bortz's has completed 35 Marathons, in 36 years, and run many half-marathons. At 76 years of age, Dr. Bortz continues to practice what he preaches.
